" I Need A New Career! I Need A New Life! WHERE DO I START??"
YOU
START HERE! Just by reading this page, you will know what to do next!
Take the mystery out of your career or life dilemmas! Take action
now! Simply Read on!
Career
action is really a PROCESS, and it can be very exciting. So many people
"fall into" their "jobs", but you are going to create your own niche!
This takes a little time, but the journey is well worth the effort.
VALUES AND DECISIONS
You'll
begin your career-action process with an examination of what is
important to you and what is not important to you in life. These are
your values, and you use them to make decisions. You'll respond to a
values and decisions assessment and plot your values on a decisions
grid. There are bound to be some exciting surprises!
PASSIONS AND INTERESTS
Next,
you'll explore what you are passionate about and what your main
interests are. You can actually create a career that you feel
passionate about and interested in. "Work" should be a continuous
source of excitement for you, not a drudge!
SKILLS
Skills
are verbs you can get paid to do. Create, write, lead, direct, draw,
speak, and run are all skills. Do you know what your skills are? Do you
know what your FAVORITE skills are? Many people aren't aware of what
their skills are or if they even HAVE any. Have you ever said, "I don't
have any skills"? Yes, you do, and you can learn more skills, too. You
need to know your favorites in order to end up doing what you love. You
also need to know what skills you might like to develop.
NATURAL CAREER DIRECTIONS
You
have natural career directions that you would be happy and successful
doing, and you can find out what they are. Just knowing what your
natural career directions are adds an exciting dimension to your
career-action plan.
WORK ENVIRONMENTS
Where
do you like to spend your time? What are your favorite environments?
What if you could get paid to work in your favorite environments? You
can!
THE CAREER ASSIGNMENT
Once
you know your values, your skills, your natural career directions, your
passions, your interests, and your environments, you are ready for the
CAREER ASSIGNMENT. This assignment is often life changing and is the
key to launching the investigation phase of your career-action plan.
Notice we haven't even mentioned MONEY yet! Money is the by-product of
doing what you love.
INVESTIGATION PHASE
Once
you know what your next career move is going to be, you begin to
investigate the job market. To do this, you will learn several
different investigative strategies and find out what questions to ask.
RESUMES FOR RESULTS
You
will create and publish a powerful resume designed to get you
interviews. Your resume will be a satisfying accomplishment that
ultimately leads you to your next career move.
INTERVIEWING SKILLS, Verbal Communication Tune-Up
You
will practice responding to the most frequently asked interview
questions. You can even arrange to have a sample interview videotaped
so that you can review it.
NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION
No
interview preparation would be complete without addressing the
nonverbal aspects of communication. You'll learn, and practice, 12
fascinating nonverbal techniques designed to present you in your very
best light. This session gives you a huge edge over your competition!
JOB-OFFER ANALYSIS
How
will you decide which job offer you should accept? It becomes quite
simple with a criteria checklist which you will learn to create.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS
In
addition to your resume, there are other written communications you
will need such as cover letters and thank-you notes. Learn how to write
effectively.
ASSERTIVE COMMUNICATION
Once
you have accepted a new job, you will want to put your best foot
forward by making sure you communicate assertively. In this session,
you'll learn how assertive you are right now and ways to improve your
assertive skills.
CONFLICT
RESOLUTION, TIME MANAGEMENT, MANAGEMENT SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, AND WOMEN
IN MANAGEMENT may all become important topics to you as you move along
in your career path.
